Ethersport MLB SoRanks - 03.30.23
Go forth and seek value with these custom Sorare MLB rankings.
It’s been a long time coming.
The tinkering was nigh-on endless all through the inaugural season.
But today marks the first release of my custom Sorare MLB ranks, to help you find the best players before your friends do.
This article will come in two parts:
The ranks: for those of you who can’t wait to dive into spreadsheet land.
My favorite takeaways for the week: for those that want the distilled info.

Insights
It’s a new year and the people are excited. They should be. It has been a long, boring, winter and the sight of new cards on the market is a treat.
But be careful.
Excitement in Sorare tends to breed overspending. If something feels like it is getting out of your price range, there is no harm in waiting for the next auction.
That being said, I’ll still highlight 10 value candidates, and 10 overvalued candidates that you might want to keep an eye on.
You can do this yourself in the ranking spreadsheet by first downloading a copy, then using the filter on the +/- column. It is an intentionally simple mechanic, just the player’s SoRank minus their implied rank by cost.
Value players have negative (-) numbers, while overvalued players have positive (+) numbers. Of course, the further down in the ranks you go, the more the number can go all over the place - so it then falls to you to see what you value, and what fits into your team and budget.
Note: Before the yelling starts, value is extremely subjective. Therefore all this is to be taken as a guide to playing the game of Sorare better over a long time horizon, not as investment advice or as the only way for a player to succeed. This is a tool, not a magic crystal ball.
Tough talk behind us, let’s look at some values.
10 Value Candidates
These are guys I have been actively looking at, even amidst the anarchy of the new season card drops.

10 Overvalued Candidates
These are tough. With rookie fever, hot spring trainings, and 1/x cards all over the place - I would simply take this list as cautionary for now.
Gunnar Henderson - BAL - CI
SoRank: 70 | Implied Rank: 26 | 44 slot differential
Carlos Rodon - NYY - SP
SoRank: 72 (tied) | Implied Rank: 34 | 38.5 slot differential
Jeremy Pena - HOU - MI
SoRank: 95 | Implied Rank: 44 | 51 slot differential
Brandon Nimmo - NYM - OF
SoRank: 151 | Implied Rank: 95 | 56 slot differential
Ezequiel Tovar - COL - MI
SoRank: 166 | Implied Rank: 120 | 46 slot differential
Jeff McNeil - NYM - MI
SoRank: 185 | Implied Rank: 126 | 59 slot differential
Eugenio Suarez - SEA - CI
SoRank: 191 | Implied Rank: 129 | 62 slot differential
Jarred Kelenic - SEA - OF
SoRank: 226 | Implied Rank: 94 | 132 slot differential
Note: This one hurts. I am one of the biggest Kelenic fans out there, but a hot spring has him at the top of everyone’s breakout list.
Joey Meneses - WSH - OF
SoRank: 248 | Implied Rank: 135 | 113 slot differential
Justin Turner - BOS - CI
SoRank: 263 | Implied Rank: 196 | 67 slot differential
