Sorare MLB Market Watch – 02.10.23
It’s been a busy week. Sorare, Web3, and Twitter never sleep. Let’s catch up on what you might have missed. And what it means for the upcoming #SorareMLB season.
5 Quick Hits
We’ve got record-setting sales, slick data visualizations, and epic articles all ahead for you on this week's hits!
1. New League Record

Gotta mention Giannis.
Specifically his unique card auction.
Now officially the highest Sorare NBA auction to date.
I continue to be amazed at how much value this game is already driving.
2. Data Viz Anyone

This isn’t really news, but I loved it all the same.
Want to see a live map of Sorare card sales around the globe?
Of course you do.
Turns out it exists.
And it’s super cool.
3. Building lineups on the go?

SorareData has you covered.
‘Nuff said.
4. A Fun Read
If you are reading this, you enjoy yourself some baseball.
The article here is not only a fun read for those that enjoy baseball but an interesting thought process if we translate all this to Sorare.
Managing your real-life Sorare budget isn’t substantially different than managing an auction budget in fantasy baseball.
Therefore, thinking about things like under or over-allocating budget to position groups - SP vs RP for example - is an interesting conundrum.
I will touch on my personal strategy below and look forward to watching it grow and adapt as the Sorare player base does the same.
5. Batting Avg Matters

TLDR - as the world trends more and more to advanced metrics… sometimes the old ways still matter.
With batting average specifically driving more impact to runs scored than many would have you believe.
This was a thought-provoking piece and the best thing I read all week. Check it out!
Buyin’ & Sellin’
I’ve been thinking a lot about the volatility of the Closer position in fantasy baseball. While a stalwart few turn in season after season of peak performance, there is always significant churn among the lower tiers.
And where there is churn in real life, there is opportunity in Sorare.
Let’s take a look at some examples.
Sellin’
Kenley Jansen
Ltd average: .0053 | Rare average: .0411
I personally think the Braves not resigning Jansen is more a dollars game and a testament to Raisel Iglesias than it is a mark against Jansen’s skillset.
Though he is 35 now, so the number of elite seasons remaining is likely low.
That, coupled with a worse team makes me want to take the money and run on Kenley.
Those that elect to hold will likely be rewarded with solid save numbers, but cashing in on top closer money right now is hard to ignore.
Buyin’
Cheap Closers
The more fun side of the coin. Who may inherit (or win) a starting job this coming season that isn’t priced accordingly? Or, who is in line for save chances that nobody seems to care about?
Raisel Iglesias is my current favorite for the title, but he isn’t alone.
Some other names to monitor:
Craig Kimbrel
Scott Barlow
Andres Munoz
So there you go - four buy-lows for the price of one!
