Sorare MLB Market Watch – 03.09.23
Another week went by, spring training is in full swing, and still we wait (not-so) patiently for updates and timelines from Sorare MLB.
5 Quick Hits
Waiting for updates does not mean there was no interesting news during the week.
Moar Data

The crew over at Sorare Tools is hitting the data bricks. Hard.
Important point: This is no longer limited to Football data.
You can already download the Basketball sheet.
And baseball isn’t far behind.
Data hounds, rejoice!
We’re having a Fire! Sale

Any time I can quote Arrested Development, I gotta do it.
Jokes aside, YNWA - one of our favorite OG Whales - put a number of cards up on the market this week.
Across all 3 sports.
Scary? Perhaps.
Honestly though, rotating exposure and allocations isn’t always a bad thing.
Sometimes ya just need some dry powder to be used elsewhere.
This also helps others enter the higher markets.
I wish I had some extra liquidity…
The Value of Position Eligibility

Everybody loves Gunnar.
A young top prospect in a wonderful hitter’s park.
But his positional eligibility in Sorare is important too, as SorareFP astutely points out here.
This is also why Spencer Strider RP cards continue to be treated as if they are made out of Vibranium.
Taxes Suck. But there is hope.

I’m a former (long time ago) accountant, and I still hate taxes.
But this year with tax software that cataloged my on-chain activity, my hatred was substantially calmed.
Plus I probably saved about 5 working days. No joke.
I’m not making a dime for sending you over to ZenLedger but definitely recommend you check it out if taxes are not your thing either.
Rates and Barrels Pod
I could have linked to any number of the recent episodes.
If you aren’t listening to Rates and Barrels, you’re missing out.
This has quickly become one of my favorite spots to go when I want actionable fantasy content that also makes me ponder.
Buyin’ & Sellin’
As usual, I wanted to mix it up a little this week. The card market remains extremely slow, which continues to bolster prices to levels I don’t expect to hold up into the season. That means buying opportunities are limited.
Sellin’
Benchable Assets
What you define as “benchable” might be different than me. But in short, I’d be looking to sell: Batters outside my top 100 Pitchers outside my top 50
Most people don’t share my obsession with stats and ranks, so simply looking at preseason ranks from your favorite fantasy site should get you most of the way there.
You want to accumulate startable assets to use early and often in the season. If you can get some value on some of the cards gathering dust before Sorare starts pumping more auctions, it could be worth a try.
Buyin’
Ltd average: .0031 | Rare average: .02
I dig Luis Garcia. He’s got good stuff and plays for a great team.
And his cards seem to not usually cost an arm and a leg.
Now, his rare cards are shockingly hard to get ahold of right now, I should know, I tried this week and struck out.
He will be one I am watching as a great spot starter and second pitcher to trot out in good matchups!
There you have it folks!
As always, thank you for reading. Please be sure to check out some of my other greatest hits below!
See you next week - Here’s hopin’ we have major, public updates to discuss.
