Sorare Ranks Update #22 - August 31st, 2023
Just about a month left in the regular season, are you ready for playoffs?
This last week was an interesting one. Everyone and their cousin knew that Atlanta was playing against Colorado.
In Colorado.
With a fourth game against the Dodgers to round out the week.
So the thought question I have for you this week is: If everyone knew it was a good play, was it still a good play?
Better yet, was it the best play?
Our galleries in Sorare are limited by the cards we own at any given point, so some of this is moot, you start who you have. I started two rosters full of Braves this week, so I am no exception.
But as of this writing my best performing roster, by a pretty wide margin, is in Limited NL with a Brewers/Phillies stack. It bears mentioning because nobody likes the Brewers lately, and both Harper and Turner on the Phillies are (were, perhaps) at the time of this writing viewed as busts on the season.
By starting them, I effectively did the opposite of the crowd, and am doing well because of it. No idea if it will hold, but it definitely made me think.
Another place where the group consensus can become a pitfall is in player price. We equate expensive with good and inexpensive with bad. And then we double down on that by starting the guys that cost a lot of money to acquire.
See the leverage point here?
If you’ve read my writing for any stretch of time you know that expensive does not perfectly correlate to good, nor the inverse. And if people use that as a major barometer for who they start, then you can give yourself a little boost by buying into guys that are currently undervalued, then simply being patient.
Let’s take a look at who that might be this week!
Rankings
Pro tip: click or tap the top of any given column to sort the data. You can also search for a given player using the “Search in table” box.
Players with negative numbers in the “+/-” column are “Values”, while players with positive numbers in that column are considered “Overvalues.” Lastly, if the Google Doc was your best friend, you can still find it right here.
Please note: based on how the pricing data is pulled, some players have blanks in their +/-. This will improve over time as more and more cards continue to hit the market for each player and more data flows to the provider.

I would be deeply grateful if you could share these ranks with a friend, then head over to Twitter and toss me a follow.
It may sound silly, but it is huge for helping this newsletter grow 🙌
Good luck out there this week managers!
could you maybe do something before the playoffs start or after like young studs you think might have a breakout year for example for me it is Miguel Vargas or players who slumped and might be back in form next year that you think people should buy with the prices of the players who don't make the playoffs dropping as we get into the playoffs
