Sorare Ranks Update #3 - April 13th, 2023
The market is shaping up, but there are still great values out there!
This week’s rankings update shows that we are still early to the season. Hot starts, slow starts, and injuries are causing massive value shifts.
Even if the seasonal expectation needle only ever moved a smidge.
The only pre-emptive insight I will give to the ranks below is this:
The season is long.
Injuries are piling up.
People love to overreact.
If you have the patience, let them.

Note: Before the yelling starts, value is extremely subjective. Therefore all this is to be taken as a guide to playing the game of Sorare better over a long time horizon, not as investment advice or as the only way for a player to succeed.
This is a tool, not a magic crystal ball.
10 Value Candidates
While many values exist for injury buy-lows, similar to last week, I wanted to highlight some serious values to be had among healthy guys this week.
Tommy Edman - STL - MI
SoRank: 76 | Implied Rank: 146 | -70 slot differential
He just hits. And nobody loves him. As MI injuries stack up, he could be a wonderful target.
Salvador Perez - KC - MI/CI
SoRank: 89 | Implied Rank: 247 | -158 slot differential
This rank alone makes me think I need to adjust catchers downward, but Perez earns time at DH too, so for a cheap leg of a Royals stack he could be appealing.
Seiya Suzuki* - CHC - OF
SoRank: 96 | Implied Rank: 163 | -67 slot differential
Ok, still injured, but expected back very soon. The window is closing where he will still be a value.
Jake McCarthy - ARI - OF
SoRank: 103 | Implied Rank: 172 | -69 slot differential
Everyone wants a piece of Corbin Carroll, and for good reason. But for some reason, McCarthy remains under the radar.
Alejandro Kirk - TOR - MI/CI
SoRank: 107 | Implied Rank: 311 | -204 slot differential
Another catcher making this list, but wow. The man won a silver slugger award last year and is part of a great offense.
Ke’Bryan Hayes - PIT - CI
SoRank: 127 | Implied Rank: 288 | -161 slot differential
Hayes is becoming a regular in this section. He is essentially the poster child of the “Forever Unloved” Sorare squad.
Sean Murphy - ATL - MI/CI
SoRank: 147 | Implied Rank: 353 | -206 slot differential
Sorare scoring hates catchers. They don’t play every game, I get it. But with Murphy filling in at DH on the regular, I think we might be seeing an overreaction from the market.
Austin Hays - BAL - OF
SoRank: 188 | Implied Rank: 260 | -72 slot differential
Another feature from last week. He continues to play well for a team that simply punishes baseballs… and nobody cares. I care, Austin, I care.
Bryson Stott - PHI - MI
SoRank: 197 | Implied Rank: 275 | -78 slot differential
I can feel my boy Sorare Baseball Beginner fall out of his chair as I feature Stott. Young + great team + fast = underappreciated.
Ramon Laureano - OAK - OF
SoRank: 200 | Implied Rank: 309 | -109 slot differential
Ok fine, he’s on an awful team. But he hits well and runs well. Laureano makes for a great second hitter-flex for bargain-hunter managers.
10 Overvalued Candidates
We’ve got a few repeat customers from last week’s overvalued section. It is worth mentioning that some of these, most in fact, are great players. But if I were to win one as a reward… I could shore up multiple needs elsewhere.
Carlos Rodon - NYY- SP
SoRank: 79 | Implied Rank: 29 | 50 slot differential
He’s great when he’s healthy, but why pay a major premium for that?
Steven Kwan - CLE - OF
SoRank: 101 | Implied Rank: 63 | 38 slot differential
Repeat from last week that actually saw his differential go up. There are other players on this team that I like more, for less.
Anthony Santander - BAL - CI/OF
SoRank: 122 | Implied Rank: 73 | 49 slot differential
Great hitter, a great team, honestly I can’t fault people for digging the guy. Seems like a byproduct of the Orioles’ hot start.
Anthony Rizzo - NYY - CI
SoRank: 154 | Implied Rank: 110 | 44 slot differential
Yankees tax?
Drew Rasmussen - TB - SP
SoRank: 187 | Implied Rank: 96 | 91 slot differential
The Rays develop pitching like nobody’s business, so I could look foolish for this - but I would rather have some other high-upside alternatives.
Hunter Brown - HOU - SP
SoRank: 196 | Implied Rank: 106 | 90 slot differential
The maybe-ace of the Astros’ future. For now, I am taking a wait-and-see approach.
Nathaniel Lowe - TEX - CI
SoRank: 198 | Implied Rank: 74 | 124 slot differential
He’s a strong hitter. Heck he won the silver slugger last year. But the Rangers have a lot of good guys that are undervalued, I’d look elsewhere to complete your TEX stacks on a budget.
J.D. Martinez - LAD - CI
SoRank: 219 | Implied Rank: 75 | 144 slot differential
Back from the Sorare grave in full force, J.D. appears to be liking his new digs in LA. He is objectively a great hitter, but the market appears to believe that he has more long-term fantasy sticking power than I do.
Joey Meneses - WSH - CI/OF
SoRank: 234 | Implied Rank: 154 | 80 slot differential
One of the most interesting outliers in my model. He continues to score a fair number of points, but fantasy ranks tell a more grim tale.
Yandy Diaz - TB - CI
SoRank: 266 | Implied Rank: 126 | 140 slot differential
His price differential ballooned 80 spots from last week. Admittedly, he is crushing it at the plate and is helping fuel the Rays’ epic start to the season.
