We’ve made it multiple weeks into the season, and while prices continue to remain stable (or even trend upward) in many places, that doesn’t mean our work is done.
There are 10 new values, 10 new overvalues, and 300 ranks for everything in between coming right up!

10 Value Candidates
This week I wanted to focus on guys that shifted into Value status - though many of the players mentioned in this column previously returned again.
Andrew Vaughn - CWS - 1B/OF/DH
SoRank: 77 | Implied Rank: 168 | -91 slot differential
It seems there must always be at least one White Sox player on this list each week. Vaughn compliments an extremely underrated (and thus far extremely cold) Sox stack to go along with other values like Luis Robert, Eloy Jimenez, and Tim Anderson (when healthy).
Riley Greene - DET - OF
SoRank: 89 | Implied Rank: 184 | -95 slot differential
Detroit has a couple top prospects lurking on their roster. Greene carries many of the right tools to make a difference over the long run, and has shown flashes of brilliance. Officially entering post-hype sleeper-ville.
Logan Webb - SF - SP
SoRank: 90 | Implied Rank: 161 | -71 slot differential
He lacks the strikeout upside I tend to admire, but eats innings effectively and has proven highly useful. Feels like a market overcorrection here based on K rate.
Andres Munoz - SEA - RP
SoRank: 149 | Implied Rank: 366 | -217 slot differential
I mostly try and avoid injury buy lows in this list, but Munoz was too juicy. Paul Sewald has been one of the top RPs this season, but is expected to go back to sharing Save/Hold duties when Munoz returns (which is soon). Munoz also has the more electric stuff of the two.
So what gives?
Ramon Laureano - OAK - OF
SoRank: 193 | Implied Rank: 452 | -259 slot differential
Ok, one returning face at least. Laureano plays for the A’s, I get it. But they are flashing some rookie talent and scoring more runs of late. Laureano is an under the radar way to fill your flex spots on the cheap, offering average, steals, and runs scored potential.
Note: Thank you Fekir on Twitter for the great typo catch here!
Dylan Carlson - STL - OF
SoRank: 209 | Implied Rank: 538 | -329 slot differential
Another insane value. Carlson is in the weird OF mix with the Cardinals, and is suffering similar uncertainty to Jordan Walker and Tyler O’Neill, but the uncertainty is causing some major value opportunity.
Jose Urquidy - HOU - SP
SoRank: 265 | Implied Rank: 480 | -215 slot differential
The opposite of Logan Webb, Urquidy may not always be healthy (on the IL right now) and may not snag you a bunch of innings, but boy does he have stuff. Boasting an above average fastball and slider combo with solid location, he makes for a great streamer whenever he is healthy. Let’s monitor that shoulder for now though.
Alex Cobb - SF - SP
SoRank: 287 | Implied Rank: 354 | -67 slot differential
Another overlooked Giant (and Value repeat). Cobb’s stuff hasn’t been as eye popping as late last year, but he still has some solid offspeed pitches (Slider and Knuckle Curve). If we see the velocity return on his fastball or sinker, he could be a great summer streamer for managers on a budget.
Jason Adam - TB - RP
SoRank: 294 | Implied Rank: 653 | -359 slot differential
Adam is an interesting value play. The Rays have been awesome, and Adam stands to see Hold chances and occasional Saves. Not bad for someone who appears almost entirely overlooked.
Jo Adell - LAA - OF
SoRank: 299 | Implied Rank: 459 | -160 slot differential
Post hype sleeper anyone? Adell was (is?) a top prospect in the Angels organization. He has huge power and is currently tearing up AAA. There are a few cards of his lurking on the market, and if his progress transitions into the majors, seeing his power combined with Ohtani and Trout would be quite fun.
10 Overvalued Candidates
So many hot starts, where should we go first?
Max Muncy - LAD - 2B/3B/DH
SoRank: 120 | Implied Rank: 53 | 67 slot differential
One of the hottest starts of all. Muncy looks great but is due for some regression nonetheless.
Cody Bellinger - CHC - OF
SoRank: 140 | Implied Rank: 43 | 97 slot differential
Bellinger was an absolute beast a few years back. Is he having a resurgence? Maybe. But an implied value of 43rd is assuming he’s 100% back.
Anthony Santander - BAL - OF/DH
SoRank: 151 | Implied Rank: 108 | 43 slot differential
The Orioles have been amazing, and so almost everyone on the team is seeing their prices rise. But Santander has been low-key struggling. Striking out more, and hitting for less power.
Jarred Kelenic - SEA - OF
SoRank: 165 | Implied Rank: 56 | 109 slot differential
One of the hottest starts of all. I love Kelenic, and I love the amazing adjustments he has made to his swing, but it feels like both the market and the MLB SPs have yet to adjust. For now, the acquisition cost just feels too high.
Sean Murphy - ATL - C/DH
SoRank: 182 | Implied Rank: 66 | 116 slot differential
Heyo - former value now lurking on the Overvalue list. Murphy has hit some monster shots the last few weeks, and the market has definitely taken notice.
Brandon Drury - LAA - 1B/2B/3B/DH
SoRank: 206 | Implied Rank: 130 | 76 slot differential
One of a number of Angels that is being oddly buoyed up after some high scoring affairs the last couple weeks. He won’t score 150 every week, that was nuts.
Brett Baty - NYM - 3B
SoRank: 208 | Implied Rank: 81 | 127 slot differential
Baty could well earn this implied rank over time, but the market has already jumped there. It just feels a bit quick, and there will be down times ahead. For guys like Kelenic and Baty, if you are stoked on them, sometimes paying for the hype is worth it though.
Sonny Gray - MIN - SP
SoRank: 221 | Implied Rank: 118 | 103 slot differential
Man, it is fun watching Sonny Gray pitch when he is “On” - and boy has he been On. But regression is a fickle mistress, and he physically can’t be this good over a full season. Not a buying opportunity.
Francisco Alvarez - NYM - C
SoRank: 268 | Implied Rank: 77 | 191 slot differential
Another top Met prospect on the list. Mets seem to carry some sort of Overvalue Aura. Anyway, I really dig Alvarez’ profile, he just hit like one home run and suddenly he’s inside the top 100. No thanks.
Joey Gallo - MIN - OF
SoRank: 271 | Implied Rank: 208 | 63 slot differential
I couldn’t resist. Hunter, this one’s for you. Gallo hits bombs. It is undeniable. But we haven’t seen the monstrous K numbers yet to go along with it. If all or nothing is your thing, be my guest.
That’s a wrap on the rankings and 10 & 10 this week!
